Introduction
In Punta Moreiras, two old salting factories converted into a museum tell how the fishermen and shellfish gatherers of O Grove lived and worked.
Description
Around 1800 there were four salting factories in Punta Moreiras, about 4 km from the center. Sardines were salted there from the late 18th century until the mid-20th century. Two were restored to create this municipal ethnographic museum.
The museological project is by marine biologist José Luis Escalante, and the restoration of the buildings by architects Carolina Álvarez Míguez and David Cacabelos Rico.
